Geochemistry
Geochemistry
Geochemistry is a branch of earth science that deals with the study of the chemical composition and distribution of elements, isotopes, and minerals in the Earth and other planets. It seeks to understand the processes that shape the Earth’s interior, the formation of the oceans, the atmosphere, and the mineral resources that are important to human society. Geochemistry also examines how chemical elements cycle through the Earth’s systems, how they interact with each other, and how they react with the Earth’s geologic processes. This field of study combines chemistry, geology, physics, and biology to understand the Earth and the evolution of the planet and life on it.
